“Much of the art of the past is not only decorative but profoundly meaningful. Its formal excellence complements that meaning, typically expressed by means of symbolic images. My own sculpture derives from this tradition. My preferred medium is bronze, and I cast in my own studio foundry in Annapolis using the cire perdue, or lost wax, process.”
“The 52 Collage Project is a narrative visual documentary of 2017. One piece was created each week. A conscious observer of human behavior and social disparities, my work is a study in the personal identification that I find within these observances.”
“The idea for Pouring came about when representational life painting had become a bit boring, leading to some experimentation with wine and markers. Pouring enabled me to create whimsical and sometimes controversial images. Sometimes, I have no direction for what I expect the final piece to look like, and I discover as I go.”

The process of bending plywood for use in furniture design dates back as early as the 1830s with manufacturing tools made possible by the Industrial Revolution. 20th century design luminaries Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen took this concept to a new level by developing a method never before used to make furniture. You will curve and bend plywood to create a modern stool. Tuition includes all supplies. Geared for ages 16 and older. No prior woodworking experience necessary.
Hear the harrowing tales of Frederick’s Civil War women. Meet the remarkable women who shaped Frederick during the Civil War-era. While soldiers marched off to war, the ladies battled on the home front. Many supported organizations which provided relief for their husbands, brothers, and sons who served in the army. Others entered the realm of politics and business to reshape Frederick forever. Join historian Jake Wynn as we explore the stories of these powerful local women on the First Saturday in June at 3 PM. The tour will meet in the museum’s lobby area. This will be a “pay-what-you-please” program. Early registration is highly encouraged.
