History of the Partnership
Founded in 1990 as a 501(c)3, Downtown Frederick Partnership has managed Downtown Frederick’s Main Street program since it was designated as a Maryland Main Street community in 2001. Working with business and community leaders, the Partnership fully embraces the Main Street Four Point Approach™ and oversees the work of its four active committees including: the Economic Restructuring Committee, the Organization Committee, the Design Committee, and the Promotion Committee. Downtown Frederick Partnership was instrumental in locating the MARC train station downtown and represents downtown interests in major planning decisions, such as the development of a major new downtown gateway project and changes to city ordinances to support downtown businesses.
