Start Up Resources

The City of Frederick’s Business Start Up Guide walks entrepreneurs through the process of starting your business. The guide also is available in Spanish.

The EmPOWER Mentorship Program is a facilitated mentoring model designed to help underrepresented businesses generate ideas, identify blind spots, troubleshoot problems and grow their networks in Frederick County. Applications are accepted by the Frederick County Office of Economic Development annually.

The Maryland Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers no cost business counseling related to business plan development, business structuring and marketing strategies.

The Maryland Women’s Business Center can help women think strategically from the beginning to build a business that allows them to succeed over the long-term. Frederick County businesses should contact Karen Kalantzis, the MWBC’s Associate Business Counselor for Frederick County.

SCORE Mid-Maryland volunteers are experienced entrepreneurs with a diverse set of specialties who volunteer their experience and knowledge to help small business professionals start & grow businesses.
