Abiding Love is a photography exhibit by Fran Byrne featuring the parents of the LTL community holding pictures of their deceased loved ones as an effort to overcome the stigma of substance related loss.
Several local artisans will participate in a pop up boutique during the exhibit and will donate a percentage of their sales to support parents & loved ones affected by overdose loss. One of the participating artists is also a parent in the community. “Living through Loss is a group of selfless human beings that take time out of their day to day lives to make sure that those of us who have endured a loss as great as I have start and continue their journey of healing.”
About Living Through Loss
Jamie Eaton, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, founded this group in 2019 after over a decade of work in the fields of grief, addiction, and trauma. Living through Loss is supported through Second Street and Hope, a Frederick based non-profit organization. Living through Loss offers groups, retreats, and workshops, both virtual and in-person at no charge to participants.
“An often overlooked population in the battle against the opioid epidemic is the wake of loved ones left behind. LTL seeks to support these bereaved parents in their grieving journey through grief support, community, and opportunities to reinvest in life in a meaningful way.”
The Center for Disease Control’s National Center for Health Statistics (2021) estimates that there were 93,331 drug overdose deaths in the United States in 2020, which is an increase of 29.4% from 2019. In May, the CDC reported there were 109,680 deaths in 2022. The Abiding Love photo exhibit is an effort to spread the word about LTL’s services in hopes of reaching as many grieving loved ones in our area as we are able to.
Abiding Love Photo Exhibit and Pop Up is a free event and open to the public. For more information, contact Whitney Dahlberg at whitneyrdahlberg@gmail.com or Jamie Eaton at lthroughloss@gmail.com.
