Bonnets and Bowties – Hosted by Historical Society of Frederick County

Ladies, don your hats! Gentlemen, sport your bowties! Join us Saturday, May 18th as we celebrate the 144th running of the Preakness!

Our party has a new twist! In the garden of Volt’s elegant 1890’s mansion, you will be treated to Celebrity Chef Bryan Voltaggio’s exceptional cuisine, beer, wine, and the specialty drink “The Black-Eyed Susan.” Bryan Voltaggio and his brother Michael were finalists in the sixth season of Bravo’s cooking competition reality show Top Chef, with Michael making the final win.

Held each year at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, the Preakness is the middle jewel of the Triple Crown, held in May between the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes. First run in 1873, it has been called “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susan,” named for the winning horse’s blanket adorned with Maryland’s state flower. At Volt, you’ll pick your winner with a 50/50 wagering system and see the thrilling race live on the Big Screen.
