On May 7, Frederick County Public Libraries will host its Human Library event! A Human Library is a worldwide movement that began in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In a Human Library, volunteers serve as “books.” The “books” are available to be borrowed by event attendees – or the “readers” – and together, the two individuals have a conversation. A Human Library provides an opportunity for people to talk to other people with different life experiences in a safe, non-judgmental environment. The goal of a Human Library is to expand how we see our neighbors and increase an understanding of our entire community.
