Join us for a combined art show with Kathryn Phebus and Sonja Mishalanie.
Kathryn Phebus paints in acrylics and watercolors and loves applying color and texture to the canvas. The inspiration for her artwork comes from local scenes and landscapes, as well as from photos friends send her in hopes of inspiring a painting. Many have, but the painting really doesn’t start working until the photo is put aside and then the brushes, paint and color enliven the piece as paint is applied to the canvas.
Sonja Mishalanie is a local Frederick artist who specializes in acrylics and watercolors and occasionally dabbles in pastel and oil. Her work is inspired by her many travels along with local landscapes, including her hometown in upstate New York and her seaside condo in Lewes, DE. She states, “Preserving wild places has always been a passion of mine. What better way to preserve and cherish something than through art? It is my hope that I can capture even one hint of everyday majesty.”
