The mother-daughter duo of Arden McElroy and Jill Hossler have teamed up once again. They are our featured artists for the month of April with their show titled “What A Wonderful World.” Both artists draw inspiration from nature for their work, particularly landscapes and seascapes, from places they’ve visited or dreamed about.
Arden has always been a “creative” and began painting a little over 10 years ago, after retiring from a 39-year teaching career. Her medium is acrylics; however, many of her pieces have a watercolor appearance. Her paintings possess an ethereal quality, drawing the viewer into a dreamlike place.
Jill’s interest in art began in high school over 40 years ago with both photography and painting, under the tutelage of Frederick County artist Barry Richardson. She works with acrylics, watercolor and gouache and strives to give viewers moments of tranquility and peace with her work.
Both women are avid travelers and gardeners. They are drawn to peaceful scenes found in the world they see and delight in taking time to appreciate the sun rising and setting, rolling hills, blooming flowers, and crashing waves.
Jill will be demonstrating painting clouds on First Sunday April 2nd at 3:30pm
