The Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership (SHIP) of Frederick County operates at the intersection of education, employment, and homelessness. Through partnerships with the broader community, SHIP aims to connect youth with the tools they need to reduce barriers to academic attainment, employment, and safe, stable housing.

Position Summary:

Role will support organizational development and sustainability, both financially and in terms of public image. Primary duties include fundraising, donor outreach, marketing and public relations, and expanding community relations. The position will work closely with the Executive Director to define both short and long term strategies for growth of new and existing programs.

Expected Responsibilities:

  • Build visibility, reputation, and brand of organization
  • Maintain regular communication and engagement with funders
  • Assist Executive Director with grant research, writing, execution, and monitoring
  • Develop and maintain volunteer engagement program
  • Create and implement strategies to increase unrestricted funding sources
  • Manage social media channels and organization website, regularly updating content
  • Develop and execute annual fundraising plan, including private and organization giving
  • Complete data entry and gift acknowledgement in a timely manner

Necessary Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of development experience
  • At least 1 year of marketing and/or public relations experience
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with working primarily outside of the office
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as an integral part of the SHIP team
  • Comfort communicating with vulnerable families and youth
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Valid driver’s license, dependable automobile, and automobile insurance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with funders, co-workers, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to comprehend, process and apply both verbal and written skills appropriate to the job
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgment
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of local agencies, community resources and organizations addressing the issues of youth, youth homelessness, and housing at large
  • Awareness of trauma, and willingness to learn and engage in trainings about childhood and adult trauma
  • Experience managing grants
  • Familiarity with Frederick County and existing high level donors
  • Experience using a CRM or donor database, comfort with automated marketing and social media platforms
  • Experience representing an organization at conferences, community meetings and/or to media outlets

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
