Monica Pearce

Tenth Ward Distilling Company: 55 E Patrick St

Monica Pearce started her career off in the environmental science field getting her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park. She spent a year after college living and working in the Galapagos Islands (fun fact!) doing conservation work and then remained in the conservation biology field when she moved back to the states to work and get her Executive Master’s in Natural Resources from Virginia Tech. Monica then made a career change when she decided to move back to her hometown and pursue her passion for whiskey and the service industry. Monica made sure to apply her experience in the environmental science field by ensuring that all processes and practices are sustainable and leave the smallest foot print possible. Since having opened the business Monica founded the Frederick Distillery Association, is active with the Maryland Distillers Guild as a board member and head of the marketing committee, has passionately lobbied and worked to improve legislation for her industry at the local, state and federal level, and recently was elected to the Frederick Tourism Council Board of Directors.
