We are so pleased to welcome local painter Faith Pickles as our featured artist for June! Swing by the shop on First Saturday, June 3, from 2-4 pm to join us for an opening reception with Faith! She’ll be on hand to chat, answer questions, and show off her latest collection of artwork.

NOMA Gallery will be exhibiting oil paintings by Caroline Mayer for the month of June. Exhibition dates are June 2–25, with an opening reception on Saturday, June 3, from 5–8pm. There will be an artist’s talk on Thursday, June 15 at 7pm. Mayer has long been known for her renditions of water, usually highlighting scenes from Greece, where she has travelled extensively. She will be showing some paintings of the Greek islands in “Loving Nature,” including new paintings inspired by a recent trip there, and will also feature scenes from Ireland, and from closer to home: Kent Island and Harper’s Ferry. Also in the exhibit will be bird paintings — a genre Mayer has been exploring extensively with much success for the past few years. Caroline Mayer has been showing artwork in Frederick since the mid-90s, starting with an eight-year membership with The Artists’ Gallery, and with NOMA Gallery since it formed in 2015. She has had a solo show at the Delaplaine Arts Center as well as showing at various other juried shows and venues over the years. The Frederick Festival of the Arts is a juried two-day fine arts festival along Carroll Creek Linear Park in downtown Frederick! The event attracts thousands of visitors and features over 100 artists from across the country, beer & wine garden, food vendors, and artist demonstrations. Ample parking is available and pets on leashes are always welcome. Explore the History of the Southern Section of Frederick City From the African-American Perspective! Join us for our 60-90 minute unique walking tour as AARCH tour guides take you on an informative exploration of local history on All Saints Street and the surrounding area. Learn about the cultural and historical importance of the neighborhood that was the center of the African American community up until the early 1960s. Tours start at the AARCH Heritage Center, 125 East All Saints St, beginning at 11 AM. Tours run from 60 to 90 minutes.

The Frederick Center and the Delaplaine Arts Center are thrilled to welcome LGBTQ+ youth of Frederick County to celebrate Pride 2023 together at a semi-formal event where they can feel safe and comfortable expressing themselves, bringing same-gender dates, and having fun with fellow community members. The Youth Pride Prom will be held on Wednesday, June 28th from 6:00-9:00pm at the Delaplaine Arts Center’s Gardiner Hall, with a dance floor, DJ, finger foods, and LGBTQ+ Pride theme. There will be no youth groups held on this evening at The Frederick Center. Tickets are required for all attendees. If cost of the ticket prevents you from attending, please contact gcassutto@thefrederickcenter.org so that we can assist you with a ticket for the event. This event is semi-formal to provide a true prom experience for our LGBTQ+ youth. We need 5-8 adult (preferably parents of attendees) chaperones for this event. If you’re interested in chaperoning, please email Glorie at gcassutto@thefrederickcenter.org so they can provide you with free registration for the event.
