Join us for the annual Kris Kringle Procession sponsored by Wawa and presented in partnership with Key 103! The parade begins at the corner of South Carroll and East Patrick streets in Frederick and ends in Baker Park with the lighting of the City Tree.
The procession mirrors the small town charm that makes Frederick so special during the holidays. Local organizations, youth clubs, and musical groups accompany costumed characters (some modern, some traditional) through Frederick’s downtown streets.
Frederick’s German Heritage Highlighted
Several of the procession’s characters reflect Frederick’s German heritage, including Pelsnickle and Weinacht Man, who help Kris Kringle judge whether children have been bad or good. Krist Kindle is an angel-like messenger who leaves gifts for good children in small baskets. The procession also includes several modern characters, such as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Follow the Procession Downtown
The procession route goes from the corner of South Carroll Street to East Patrick Street, turns right onto N. Market Street, and then turns left onto West Second Street, ending at Baker Park. Nearly all of the streets are illuminated by thousands of tiny white lights.

Close the Evening Out With Holiday Cheer
Follow the Procession to the Baker Park Bandshell for a Closing Ceremony full of Holiday cheer including carols, lighting of the City Christmas tree and special messages from much-loved characters including the Snow Queen and Kris Kringle himself!
