As the owner of The Muse, I have always quietly done my own mixed media, fiber based art in my spare time. It is something that has always been a large part of my life but not one that I would share very often. In 2017, I took on a personal project of creating a piece a week for the entire year. The pieces document the year from a global & personal perspective. For the month of July through Aug 26th, all 52 pieces will be on exhibit at The Delaplaine Arts Center.

“Much of the art of the past is not only decorative but profoundly meaningful. Its formal excellence complements that meaning, typically expressed by means of symbolic images. My own sculpture derives from this tradition. My preferred medium is bronze, and I cast in my own studio foundry in Annapolis using the cire perdue, or lost wax, process.”
Burton Blistein | No Exit
“The 52 Collage Project is a narrative visual documentary of 2017. One piece was created each week. A conscious observer of human behavior and social disparities, my work is a study in the personal identification that I find within these observances.”
Whitney Dahlberg | 52 Collage Project
“The idea for Pouring came about when representational life painting had become a bit boring, leading to some experimentation with wine and markers. Pouring enabled me to create whimsical and sometimes controversial images. Sometimes, I have no direction for what I expect the final piece to look like, and I discover as I go.”
Kim Klabe | Pouring
We are all familiar with summer scenes. Now let’s explore Summer Seen by the Gallery 322 artists. The act of creating gives the artists an opportunity to translate the scene or idea and present it in their own way distilled by their own vision.
