Join Sue at our brand new art and yoga studio for Frederick, Give Rise Studio, to experience deep stillness, tend to our joints/bones/fascia and give our muscles a much needed rest. Give Rise Studio is located at 129 E Patrick St, Suite 24 (entrance in rear up white staircase in back parking log – use street parking). Part of proceeds donated to Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership of Frederick County. Yin Yoga is generally a passive form of yoga done sitting or laying down in specific, modifiable shapes. You get down on the mat and get up and the end. We disengage our muscles and hold the shapes with the support of our bodies or props- creating a stirring of fluid to the joints, releasing the fascia tissues in the body and bringing strength to our joints – just to name a few physical benefits. These shapes are held for a few minutes at a time without the muscles engaged. If you are used to the more active styles of yoga you may find Yin to be a wonderful compliment to your active (yang) yoga practice, great first time yoga class or to improve mobility. Limited to 6 (flexible) – No […]

Protection, Projection, Definition are all part of dealing with our own and other bodies. Body consciousness: form and fantasy are a huge part of growing up and that maturation process is lifelong with many chapters. Our bodies are our books. We crawl, totter, race and dance through each day of pages together and alone. Artistic representations of human face and figure have charted our growth as a species. This is visually recorded time picturing The Hunt, tools of daily living, and quest for the unknown through ceremony. All people, all through time have these commonalities. We are all different. We are all the same. Opening Reception: Saturday, February 2, 2019, 5pm-9pm • Gallery open 12-9pm Artists’ Talk and Closing Reception: Thursday, February 21, 7–9pm
The Body: Armor, Avatars and Identity
Gillian Collins brings a new light to antique mechanical components and vintage blueprints in her new works. Luc Fiedler’s sculptures and foundry-based art are meditative and entertaining. Sandra Fritter’s plein air, studio and figurative works seek to capture the essence of her subject matter. Tina Lund exhibits a new series of paintings of Frederick County. Bonny Lundy presents works in watercolor based on an emotional response to the subject matter. Lori Niland Rounds continues to explore her profoundly meditative encaustic wax medium works. Linda Slattery Sherman focuses on an expression of motion and a unique application of paint to the canvas and offers her one of a kind prints for the exhibition. Paula Rubin-Wexler pursues her abstracted landscapes through the skilled use of color experienced while painting on location. Karen Winston-Levin looks at the play of light and shadow as each defines figures as well as structures. “The Associates” show, along with a group of work by full members of TAG, runs from February 1st through February 24th. An opening reception for the artists will be held from 5pm-9pm on February 2nd, as one of Frederick’s First Saturday events.
