About the Frederick Arts Council
The Frederick Arts Council is Frederick County’s umbrella arts organization, a resource and advocate for all local artists, creatives, and culturally-minded community members. FAC gives grants to individuals and organizations, provides programming, and serves as a liaison for the arts with all levels of government.
FAC Art Center
The FAC Art Center is a newly renovated, converted church building at 5 E 2nd St in Downtown Frederick. This historic building not only houses resident organizations, public art projects, exhibitions, and offices, but also serves as an affordable venue for our member artists and organizations to hold events, exhibitions, and performances. The FAC Arts Center is a cultural hub and anchor point for the arts in Frederick County.
The FAC Art Center functions as a place for the community to engage in public art both inside and outside the building and complements the gallery program at 11 W Patrick St.
About the Building
The first floor includes the FAC Shop, information about FAC members, and resident organizations such as Endangered Species (theatre) Project. The first floor also features rotating exhibitions in partnership with local artists and arts organizations.
FAC’s second floor gallery houses rotating exhibitions, public art initiatives, concerts, and events.
The third floor houses the FAC Creative Lab, a studio and workspace free and open to the public. FAC invites artists and creatives to utilize the drawing tables, easels, armchairs, and to enjoy the library of artist books, artist editions, and monographs. The Creative Lab is free and open to the public during FAC Art Center hours of operation.
