One of the nations most respected and honored singer/songwriters Jason is already the winner of gold and double platinum song writing awards. He is a brilliant soulful singer who can go from a raspy Joe Cocker in one song, to a romantic balladeer in the next. We were very lucky to work out his busy traveling schedule to coincide with a family visit back in the Maryland area. Please don’t miss this National treasure of an artist.

The Tivoli Discovery Series is our pay-what-you-want series featuring emerging artists. This month’s artist is Ashley Ray, who has established herself as one of Nashville’s most nuanced voices, chasing down critical acclaim not only as a solo artist, but also as an in-demand songwriter for Little Big Town, Lori McKenna, Lady A’s Charles Kelley, and others. Her albums have earned her shows with Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Natalie Hemby, Little Big Town and other country trailblazers who, like Ashley, create a modern sound without chasing after modern trends. Ashley Ray shines a light on her midwestern roots with her third album, Pauline, whose autobiographical songs tell true stories of love, loss, and life in Middle America. Pauline was met with critical acclaim landing on multiple “Best Albums of 2020” lists from NPR to Stereogum. Her appearance on NPR’s coveted Tiny Desk series closed out the year.

Set in New Orleans at the end of the 19th century, The Awakening is a compelling story of Edna, a woman ahead of her time, who undergoes a social, sexual, and spiritual awakening. This American literary classic was banned when released and rediscovered in the 1950s. Adapted from the novel by Kate Chopin by Rebecca Chase with music by Myra Platt. The show is set to a score of blues, ragtime, soul, and opera and is rich with the lush decadence of the French Quarter. Tickets are always Pay-What-You-Can.

The National String Symphonia (NSS) is celebrating 10 years of making beautiful string music and is excited to present some of the most popular selections from their first 10 seasons. This concert is definitely one that you don’t want to miss so plan to attend and celebrate with the NSS! Founded in 2013, the National String Symphonia is a fully professional symphonic string orchestra. Their mission is to preserve, promote, and present string orchestra music. Many ensembles do not program this repertoire for a variety of reasons, including its relative obscurity and its musical complexity, as well as basic challenges in obtaining performance materials. Their goal is to reach beyond the archetypical orchestra audience and become an integral part of the musical life of listeners at all ages and stages. They seek to innovate the concert experience, and are exploring new and different ways of presenting the music – including the use of video elements and educational presentations. They strive to increase accessibility to and relevance of the music while ensuring high-caliber performances.

The Tivoli Discovery Series is our pay-what-you-want series featuring emerging artists. This month’s artist is Austin, TX-based Zach Person, who plays loud, raw, and connects with his music fans on a primal sonic level. Person has a swagger, talent and grit beyond his years. With the poise of a seasoned veteran on stage and the stylings of a mega star, he commands an audience in seconds. “Reminiscent of everyone from Elmore James and Duane Allman to The Black Keys and Jack White, Person channels a raw, pure-bred American swagger,” said American Songwriter. “Between the driving beat, Person’s fuzzed-out vocals and the layers of bombastic guitar parts, the tune shows off all the reasons that Buddy Guy once said of Person ‘What else can I say? The young man is hot!’” His inspirations are varied, and include prolific artists like The Black Keys, Jack White, Chris Stapleton, Jonny Lang, Funkadelic, and Led Zeppelin. With his new project, Zach has created his own take on a contemporary hybrid of blues and rock music, arranged in a pop format. Person’s self-titled, debut LP dropped on April 2, 2021 and garnered the attention of notable press including American Songwriter, Classic Rock Magazine, American Blues Scene, […]
