Position Summary

The Bench Jeweler creates custom jewelry pieces based on specifications.  Performs jewelry repairs and restoration services.  Provides consultation services to internal staff regarding repair and custom jewelry projects.                            

Essential Functions

·         Performs jewelry repair and restoration services. Sizes jewelry according to specifications.  Rebuilds and refurbishes jewelry.

·         Creates custom jewelry pieces based upon designer specifications. 

·         Performs quality assurance checks before delivering to technical services manager.

·         Provides consultative guidance to internal staff on technical aspects of repairs and custom work.  Provides guidance with cost estimates for complex projects. 

·         Performs some housekeeping duties as part of the instore team

·         Maintain open and timely communication with Repair Coordinator and Store Manager regarding project status, sales and design questions. 

·         Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/Qualifications

·         Technical/Vocational/Business or high school diploma or GED

·         3 years of experience with jewelry repair, restoration and design experience

·         Accredited Jeweler Professional certification required

·         Expert knowledge of precious stones and metals; cost estimating and profitability; and project management.

·         Have a strong work ethic and are eager to learn

May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.  Pushing, pulling, carrying or reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up or otherwise to 10 lbs. as required to retrieve or store materials throughout the workday. Required to work with equipment and materials to repair and create jewelry.

Work Environment:

The physical environment requires the employee to be in the repair workshop. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to heat and repair equipment/materials.
