Artopia

Artopia is our newest event, designed to put our creative community in the spotlight! Join us in Downtown Frederick on Saturday, June 7, for a day full of local art.

There will be impressive chalk art and live plein air painting by Frederick-based artists all over town – check back for a map closer to the date.

Hang around until the evening, and you’ll experience our first-ever live art competitions at 6pm and 7:30pm. The artists will find out the theme when the audience does, create for about an hour, and you will decide who gets bragging rights for the next year!

If you’re interested in participating as an artist in any of these activities, see the signups below – all ages and abilities welcome!

We hope to see you around town for Artopia, but don’t forget, Downtown Frederick is home to over 15 galleries and studio spaces that are always filled with local art.

Hop on the Salsa Trail from 4-7pm in Downtown Frederick this October First Saturday! As you make your way from the Hispanic Heritage Festival on Carroll Creek to Uptown Salsa Night at 331 N Market St, visit local businesses to taste all the flavors of salsa!

Grab tortilla chips from three locations in downtown:
Vintage MC (24 E Patrick St)
Crash & Catharsis Rage Factory (14 W Patrick St)
Chappelle & Co. (223 N Market St)

This year’s June First Saturday in Downtown Frederick will feature the 31st annual Frederick Festival of the Arts from 10am to 5pm, at Carroll Creek Park. Hosted by Frederick Arts Council, the festival features over 100 artists from across the country.
