Stroll through downtown as artists transform sidewalks into colorful works of chalk art and capture the beauty of Frederick through live plein air painting. Around every corner, you’ll discover new artwork taking shape and artists bringing our community to life.

Throughout the day, watch creativity unfold in real time as artists work outdoors, turning blank canvases and pavement into stunning masterpieces. Explore shops, restaurants, and galleries while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere filled with art and inspiration.

Starting as early as 8am, 20+ local artists of all ages transform the streets into incredible works of art. It’s a sight you don’t want to miss! See the map below for artist locations.

Not familiar with plein air? Artists capture real life as it happens, painting live scenes right before your eyes. See them throughout downtown starting at 10am.

Leave your mark on ARTOPIA with our Community Mural as you enter the Carroll Creek Parking Garage from Patrick Street. Frederick’s own Matt Long will be onsite helping bring the mural to life from 12-5pm.

Take in the art of Downtown Frederick from the best seat in town! Hop aborad the Maryland Double Decker Bus for a mini-tour of the public art, murals and creative landmarks that make Downtown unique.

Mini tours depart at 12:00pm, 12:40pm, 1:15pm, 1:50pm and 2:25pm.

Experience creativity in action as three artists go head-to-head in a live competition. Artists will create original works inspired by a surprise audience-selected theme. Watch the artistic process unfold in real time as the artists race against the clock.

This year, the 32nd annual Frederick Festival of the Arts will take place on June 13th and 14th from 10am to 5pm, at Carroll Creek Park. Hosted by Frederick Arts Council, the festival features over 100 artists from across the country.
