Learn how to create a compelling EPK (electronic press kit) featuring an artist bio, artist statement, technical rider, and work samples (audio, video, photos). Discover marketing essentials, from building a website and designing a logo to navigating social media and crafting business cards. Gain insights into portfolio creation, exhibition proposals, artist talks, and photographing your work. Required materials: pen/notebook or laptop, camera phone, and Instagram app. Targeted to both visual and performing artists.
*Pieter Bickford is the Marketing Director at High Rock Studios in Hagerstown, MD, specializing in Cinema Services. He previously anchored the news on WHAG-TV and was editor-in-chief of the local event guide, What’s NXT. Pieter serves on the Washington County School Board and has served on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Association, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Foundation.
**Bonnie Kern is a Pennsylvania State University graduate with a BA in Humanities and a Wilson College graduate with an MFA in Visual Arts. Kern is the gallery director for Hood College since 2021, where they operate the Hodson and Whitaker Galleries to include teaching within the Art & Archaeology Department. In addition, Kern holds a teaching position at Gettysburg College in photography and digital media, while running a photography business, Polka Dot Portraits & PDP Industrial in the DC/NOVA area since 2005. Her passion for the arts has led her to a position at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design recruiting art students since 2020. Kern appreciates facilitating agency for students and fellow artists to pursue their creative paths.
