The art galleries encourage you to stay for a special Downtown Frederick Sunday Artwalk following each First Saturday. There will be special events, art talks, live demos, and DIY projects from 12-4pm.

Delaplaine Arts Center | Art Tiles: Deaf View/Image Art (a genre of works about the Deaf experience)
Ellen Mansfield is a Deaf artist originally from New York who creates ceramic tiles, linocuts and paintings. A prominent component in her tiles and linocuts is hand imagery. he works in a variety of aesthetic and technical styles including sculpted relief, carved plaster blocks, tile presses and mosaic tiles. All the tiles are finished in a wide palate of earthenware and stoneware glazes.
Ellen has done numerous commissions for decorative work including hand-painted tiles for custom murals. She has led many workshops in ceramics, drawing and painting for Deaf children, hearing children of Deaf parents, and Deaf adults.
