NOMA Gallery is proud to present The Selvage Shore: Textiles & Talismans from the Coastal Fringe, a collaborative exhibition by local artists Stephanie Schaub and Elisa Nickum. Together they create an off-season coastal dreamscape woven from washed-out palettes, windswept textures, and quiet magic.

Rooted in slow fashion and intentional craft, the exhibition highlights wearable art made from reclaimed, foraged, and natural materials. Elisa Nickum’s sustainable textiles feature deadstock and locally reclaimed fabrics, transformed into garments with clean lines, architectural silhouettes, and timeless elegance. Her work considers both form and values, asking how clothing can be a tool for expression and change.

Stephanie Schaub, silversmith and founder of The Dwelling Gem, contributes a collection of one-of-a-kind coastal talismans. Using seashells and organic materials often overlooked for their cracks, holes, or irregularities, Schaub transforms imperfections into enduring jewelry that invites reflection on beauty, resilience, and care. Her work draws from her rural Maryland roots and coastal ties, blending the quiet of the woods with the wild spirit of the sea.

As summer’s light fades into autumn, The Selvage Shore invites visitors to reflect on what we choose to keep, transform, or treasure. These wearable works carry themes of sustainability, imperfection, and the delicate balance between refinement and erosion—worn-in, reimagined, and ready to be worn again with purpose.
