April has brought the rain but this weekend is bringing all the spring vibes! Head downtown for First Saturday where you’ll find live music, sidewalk sales, dining and fun activities for everyone. Here’s some ideas to get you started…

1️⃣ Enjoy a Spring Fling full of activities and sidewalk sales this Saturday at 20+ of your favorite local shops in downtown.

2️⃣ Downtown Frederick history is hidden around every corner. The National Museum of Civil War Medicine’s signature walking tours are back this weekend for a new season.

3️⃣ Join Evangelical Lutheran Church for a free spring craft day this Saturday open to all. Decorate flower pots and plant flowers for local nursing care facilities.

4️⃣ Head over to BK Juices for some healthy eats! Chef Foxy from Black Baltimore Vegan will be serving up comfort plant-based specialties like ginger chikn, curry chickpeas and rice and so much more. Yum!

5️⃣ Since you’ll already be in Downtown Frederick for First Saturday, stay and take a stroll on the self-guided Sunday Artwalk. Our Arts & Entertainment District will be hosting special events, art talks, live demos, and DIY projects.

Walking Tours with National Museum of Civil War Medicine

Saturday, April 6, 10:30am & Sunday, April 7, 2pm

Walk in the footsteps of doctors, nurses, soldiers and civilians who cared for 8,000 wounded soldiers in Downtown Frederick. Every Saturday at 10:30am and Sunday at 2pm from April until September, docents from the National Museum of Civil War Medicine will explain how Frederick became “One Vast Hospital.”

Tickets are $15 and include admission to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in addition to the walking tour. Tickets are free for Museum members, but you must still reserve your spot. Reservations will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

Evangelical Lutheran Church’s April First Saturday event is free and open to all! They will be decorating flower pots and planting flowers to be taken to local nursing care facilities.

Since you’ll already be in town for First Saturday… The art galleries encourage you to stay for a special Downtown Frederick Sunday Artwalk following each First Saturday. There will be special events, art talks, live demos, and DIY projects from 12-4pm.
