October First Saturday (Spirits of the Season)

First Saturday means all day activities, late-night shopping and dining, live music on the street, and a free trolley to guide your way! During October First Saturday, celebrate local food and beverage. Whether you’ve lived here for years, or you’re a first time visitor, First Saturdays are a great time to discover something new about Downtown Frederick.

October First Saturday is presented by Downtown Frederick Partnership with support from Hood College, Frederick County Public Libraries and The C. Burr Artz Trust. Stop by the C. Burr Artz Public Library all day for family-friendly drop-in Halloween activities and find FCPL at 33 E Patrick St for pumpkin painting from 5-9pm.

LIVE MUSIC + ENTERTAINMENT

Each First Saturday, musicians and entertainment can be found all over downtown!

  • The Thing, Frederick’s local music festival presented by the Frederick News-Post, will be at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater from 4-9:30pm with live music and a Flying Dog Beer Garden. Get an all-access wristband that’s good for the entire festival (buy here), or the Finale Show is $10 at the gate.
  • Enjoy family-friendly entertainment presented by Frederick County Public Libraries at 30 N Market St:

LIVE ART

Each month, find artists creating live works inspired by Downtown Frederick. Artwork will be on display & available for sale during our First Saturday Art Show in August 2019!

This First Saturday, join plein air artists Tony Mel & Donna Quesada painting live at the 5th & Market Street trolley stop, near the NOMA, 505 and Bravura Arts galleries. Experience Downtown Frederick Partnership’s year-long live art demonstrations and don’t miss the final exhibition, “A Year of First Saturdays” next summer.

 

TROLLEY STOPS
