Downtown Frederick’s Top 5 – January 6-8

Now that you can finally take a deep breath from all of the holiday season hullabaloo, why not make the trip to Downtown Frederick to visit our wonderful merchants, ready to serve you! With art openings around town and the reopening of the Frederick Books Arts Center, you’ll easily find something to feed your creative side. Looking for a bite to eat or a sip of something delicious? We’ve got you covered there too. If it’s your soul you’re looking to soothe, look no further than a gong session (you heard us right!). You’ll be bathed in sound, and the heated floors are rather delightful as well!

We can’t wait to see you downtown this weekend!

Frederick Book Arts Grand Reopening

Saturday, January 6, 10am-4pm

217 W Patrick St

Join Frederick Book Arts for their Grand Re-Opening event! Over the summer, Frederick Books Arts experienced a fire that required a complete shut down and the move of nearly all of their equipment out of the building. Renovations are complete and they have moved back and would love to share the updated space with you!

There will be demos, make and takes, tours, and the shop will be open, so stop on in and learn all about the magic of the book arts. They will also be setting love lines for our upcoming Valentine’s Day Ephemeral Newspaper during the Re-opening event! Do you have a message for a special sweetheart, friend or an important person in your life? Do you want to see it immortalized in a hand printed newspaper? Join Frederick Book Arts and learn how to set your own lines of type to be included in the newspaper that will be printed on one of the vintage letterpresses!

Full Moon Gong Meditation @ The Center Sound . Mind . Body

Saturday, January 7, 7pm-7:45pm, $15

28 E 6th St

Travel the sound current for the first Full Moon of 2023, also known as Wolf Moon. People from different cultures gave Full Moons names that represented the peculiarities of a lunar month in which they occur. Throughout cold January nights, the howling of wolves could be heard around villages in both Europe and America, so the January Full Moon became widely known as the Wolf Moon. Step out of the cold, onto The Center’s heated floor to relax and enjoy the transcendent harmonics of the gongs, singing bowls and flute.
