DISTRICT Arts Presents “A Symphony in Pastel”

DISTRICT Arts Presents “A Symphony in Pastel”, soft pastel paintings by Jean Hirons.

For Jean, painting with soft pastels is a means of connecting to the things she loves—the natural world, architecture that delights her, and harmonious color.  The pure pigment colors of pastel really sing!  She describes herself as a “painterly realist” because her subjects are grounded in reality but her color palettes are often of her choosing.

An avid amateur pianist, Jean sees the similarities between art and music.  Both begin with solid compositions, then take wing with color, harmony, texture and surprise.  In this featured show at DISTRICT Arts, Jean includes paintings from Washington, DC, Frederick, MD and the C&O Canal.

Jean is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and a Master Circle member of the International Association of Pastel Artists.
