“A Mutual Interest” Print Show

This winter, the Frederick Arts Council will present a print exhibition entitled “A Mutual Interest,” including recent works by artists Johnny Carrera, Terrence Hannum, Suzy Kopf, Priyanka Kumar, Rebecca Marimutu, Lisa Sheirer, Rhonda Smith and Corrine Wilson.

The exhibition’s title and environmental theme are inspired by Lady Bird Johnson’s words: “The environment is where we all meet, where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share. It is not only a mirror of ourselves, but a focusing lens on what we can become.”

The show will run from December 5th, 2020, until February 27th, 2021, on the first floor of the Arts Council’s 5 E. 2nd Street art center. “A Mutual Interest” will open with a reception on December 5th from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Visitors will be required to wear masks and abide by social distancing regulations, and coffee & breakfast refreshments will be served outdoors.

“Even in the midst of COVID-19, we are grateful to have these talented artists reminding us of the beauty of our environment, and the importance of preserving it,” said Louise Kennelly, Executive Director of the Frederick Arts Council. “This inaugural print show will be the first of many exhibits showcasing local and regional artists at our 5 E. 2nd Street Center.”

All works in the exhibition will be for sale, with partial proceeds supporting the Frederick Arts Council and arts programming in the community.
